- I made my first Sock Monkey in the summer of 2006 and was totally hooked. By the next summer I had given monkeys as presents to everyone I knew and finally opened Fried Okra, here on Etsy.

- Currently I make a nice little mismash of sewn lovelies. A variety of plush animals created using salvaged sweaters and suit coats. Kitties, Puppies, Tortoises, Elephants, Hippos, Armadillos, Bats, and Trout. There is nothing wrong with grownups buying stuffed fish for themselves.
To indulge my love of fabrics I created a patchwork pouch with embroidery and vintage buttons, each one a special snowflake. I am a lover of detail, well placed stitches and the perfect prints. Pincushions with woven yarn, pinback buttons, and stickers made from vintage books. One cannot have just one hobby!

- The need to create is an obsessive one, all consuming. Colors and textures are beyond inspiring, coffee and documentaries are my fuel.. Cotton prints with the most perfect color combinations and vintage buttons from my Grandma's collection. A rainbow of embroidery floss and a basket full of hand-spun art yarns spark something I don't have the words to describe. And that funky sweater at the thrift store just begs to be turned into a Sweater Trout.

- I love my city, my community is amazing. Etsy feels like that community, making the world a little smaller.
